To lose weight, you need to make your diet healthier and be more physically active. However, this may not be easy for everyone. Dieting is a way of fighting hunger, which is a strong biological stimulus and can be difficult for many. There are also people who have healthy menus and small portions, but the weight is stubborn to lose. What should you do if you have tried hard, but you cannot lose weight and when you reduce your food portions, the feeling of hunger interferes with a positive life?
Why losing weight is difficult
Every second, the human brain receives up to 50 signals from different parts of the body. Among these signals are various hormones that regulate the feeling of hunger and fullness. If you reduce the amount of energy, or calories, obtained from food, your body weight will start to decrease and the balance of hormones will change. This is why you may have a greater appetite during weight loss and sometimes eat more than you planned. This is why it can be difficult to lose weight and keep it off later.

Semaglutide helps reduce hunger
Originally developed for the treatment of diabetes, semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA). This sounds complicated, but essentially it means that it is an analogue of a hormone found in the body (in terms of chemical composition, it is more than 90% similar to the GLP-1 hormone found in the body). Like the same GLP-1 hormone found in the body, semaglutide increases insulin secretion and thereby lowers blood sugar levels.
During drug studies, it was discovered that semaglutide has a beneficial effect on weight loss.
It slows down the emptying of the stomach and helps reduce appetite. This means that you do not feel as hungry and it is easier to consume smaller portions of food.
What is the treatment course and what are the results?
The majority of patients are able to achieve a weight loss of 10-15% of their body weight with the medication
The treatment course should last at least six months, but to achieve a good treatment effect, it is recommended to use the medication regularly for one year.
However, it is not as simple as just taking the medication. Therefore, dietary counselling is important during the treatment course and a healthy diet and regular physical exercise habits must be developed during the treatment course, which will contribute to weight loss and help maintain the achieved weight later.
You should also be aware that as with any medication, semaglutide has side effects. These include nausea, feeling full, and digestive problems, such as constipation or diarrhoea.
Tuomo has said that he has been looking for a so-called miracle cure for ten years. In collaboration with Dr Rein Adamson, it was decided that a good solution for him might be to combine semaglutide medication with nutritional coaching. “My appetite started to decrease almost immediately,” he says of his experience. “At first, it felt a bit like food was not going down, you are full to the brim from a few mouthfuls. I had no side effects or concerns. I am not a fan of needles, but this injection is really easy to do and to endure. The needle is thin, you practically don’t feel it.” Tuomo says that after the third month, the so-called miracle really happened. “I immediately felt that I had less fat and was more comfortable,” he says. The excess weight that had been bothering me for almost ten years has receded. This is a great help – the best solution I have tried so far. The Health Clinic offers a very wide range of weight loss services. They are definitely the clinic with the most competent doctors in Estonia when it comes to weight loss.”
